Wednesday Tutorial
Level HS Class Descriptions

For your High School Student(s), you can choose:
full-day, morning only or afternoon only classes.

For full-day classes, choose a morning block and an afternoon block.

Morning Block

9am-11:50am

Overview:

This class combines US History with American literature, Bible, US Geography, and Composition. All of the work for this class goes together to create a deeper learning of historical events. The class covers US history from the colonies all the way to the present days.

Time in class will consist of all of these sections. The amount of time for each will be different each week, depending on the lessons that we are working on.
For weekly assignments, there will be a checklist for students to work through each week.

Geography and Bible will be mostly done in class while Literature, History, and Composition will be completed mostly at home.
Weekly assignments consist of reading and answering questions and different writing assignments. There will be several projects throughout the year and a research paper.
There will be some testing but that is not a major part of the class.
This class counts as a full language arts credit, a complete history credit, and a Bible credit, which can also be used as an elective. So there are three grades for this class.

US History & Geography:

Bible:

English Comp:

In this year-long class we will study our great country and its geography, history and incredible literature all with keeping a Biblical point of view.

With Notgrass Exploring America we will learn the history of the United States from Columbus through present time. We will read important historical documents, speeches, and literary works that highlight key places, people and events of our country. There will also be a geography component, where we will learn about our great 50 states and their regions.

In our Bible class we will be working on unpacking and memorizing verses, and completing lessons in Bible study that parallel our history lessons with the Notgrass curriculum.

You will receive an English credit that consists of both Literature and Composition. The literature pack from Notgrass Exploring America is full of amazing works by American authors and they integrate into the period of time we are studying. Novels such as Uncle Tom's Cabin and biographies of the life of David Crockett are among the fantastic literature we will study. Using frameworks from IEW we will also learn to write literary analysis and complete a research paper in the second semester and learn the MLA format.

With Lab

Masterbooks Master’s Class High School Biology is a 32-week, lab-based science course that gives students a solid, foundational study of life and living systems from a Christian, biblical worldview. It combines textbook lessons, hands-on labs, and scientific observation to help students understand how life works.

Students will learn the fundamental principles of biology, including cell structure and function, genetics, ecology, and the diversity of life. They will explore how organisms interact with each other and their environments and understand the interdependence of living systems.

Students will learn microscopy and laboratory skills, including using a light microscope and conducting dissections. They will develop scientific thinking through weekly labs, lab reports, and written assignments, building both analytical and communication skills. This course is structured to fulfill one full high school science credit, including the lab component, making it suitable for transcripts and graduation requirements.

Assigned chapter readings are completed outside of class. A weekly in-class quiz assesses comprehension of each chapter. Laboratory activities are conducted collaboratively during class time. All lab materials are provided. Cumulative assessments are administered after every four chapters.
